Mary Katrantzou

After falling in love with her s/s 11 collection and her latest capsule collection for Topshop; I am now bordering on obsession with her a/w12 collection! I love the photographic element to the designs and feel this is something which I could investigate myself. My favourite has to be the maze print dress...amazing!

Topshop, Nick Knight and Karlie Kloss.

Just thought I would add a post about my inspiration for this week... Topshop's latest video by Nick Knight which celebrates Topshop's involvement within the British fashion industry. I love the video and all it represents...it shows that British designers are as influential as ever, plus I have found a new obsession... Mary Katrantzou.

Welcome to the Future...

These are pages from my recent sketchbook based on the future...looking at many different artists/photographers/designers to influence a final print collection that will be manipulated into a piece of wearable art. The other image is a A2 drawing page using different weights of pen to create a layered effect.

Decon/Recon workshop

Charity shop find of the day!

Pinning the pleats to see how it looks on the body...

Going crazy with box and regular pleats!!

Altering the placement of the sections...I like the neckpiece.

I like this one... maybe needs another section!

Perfect! All i need now is to add the denim waistband to make the back strap.

Last week I took part in a "deconstruction reconstruction" workshop, whereby we had to source a garment which reflected my theme (futuristic) and reconstruct it into either samples for my project or another garment. The workshop went really well i was able to to demonstrate pleating skills i had learned in earlier workshops and create this futuristic style top!

Love these too much... my favourite seasonal buy from River island! Aztec print all the way!

"Great Scot" construction project...inspired by hunting and rural Scotland I used macrame to integrate leather, yarns and suede lace. I hand dyed jersey to create my garment front. Happy with the result but felt restricted due to the lack of print work in this project!

Some of my designs printing off! love this part of the process when my designs become real! Starting off with sampling and then hopefully moving on to creating a wearable piece of art! Loving this project at the minute!
